Upcoming Upgrade to MyMedia Captioning: What to Expect

We are excited to inform you about an upcoming upgrade to MyMedia, Boston University's streaming platform. This improvement will introduce a more optimized captioning system, enhancing media accessibility and making it easier to request, manage and edit captions within your media content.

WHAT'S CHANGING?

On Saturday, November 30, 2024, we will implement a system-wide transition to the MyMedia captioning system. This upgrade will bring several improvements to captioning and accessibility, including:

• Improved Machine Captions: Benefit from faster, more accurate machine-generated captions at no cost.
• Simplified Caption Management: Easily order and edit machine-generated captions directly within MyMedia at no cost, eliminating the need to edit on an external vendor console.
• Streamlined Dashboards Effortlessly manage your media with centralized dashboards, simplifying departmental tracking and reporting.
• Human Caption Requests: Order enhanced-accuracy captions directly through MyMedia for a fee, with requests requiring approval for submission to the human captioning service.

While there may be slight changes in appearance and user experience, the core service of managing and captioning your media will remain unaffected. Existing media and captions will not be impacted, ensuring a seamless transition.
