Resolved: Microsoft Authenticator prompts for some BU Clients

Description of Impact

Some BU clients with access to Microsoft Office 365 services were encountering an issue where instead of being prompted for Duo 2 Factor,encounter a Microsoft multifactor authentication prompt instead. This issue is likely attributed to the Duo option being inadvertently removed, in which case Microsoft pushes the client towards their Multifactor security option.

Incident Description and Resolution

IS&T teams have identified the cause, and are working on a backend update to prevent clients from making this inadvertent removal moving forward.

Description of Impact

Some BU clients with access to Microsoft Office 365 services are encountering an issue where instead of being prompted for Duo 2 Factor, are encountering a Microsoft multifactor authentication prompt instead.

Current Status

IS&T teams have not yet identified the cause of the incident, but are investigating.

Additional Information

Impacted clients are only experiencing this issue with Microsoft Services – it does not impact clients ability to access other Duo protected BU resorces.
