Tuesday, October 18th, 2011
This year, BU Information Security is hosting the first annual Information Security Awareness Week at Boston University. October is National Information Security Awareness Month and Universities and other organizations across the country host events and campaigns to help people understand more about the importance of protecting their information and computers.
One of the activities the Information Security department is sponsoring this year is free document shredding for all BU faculty, staff, and students.
Bring any and all papers you want to shred to the following locations. InfoSec personnel will be on hand to accept custody of your documents and watch over them until they are destroyed:
- Tuesday, 10/25 – 9-noon – CRC – Granby St Lot [Map]
- Wednesday, 10/26 – 9-noon – BUMC – East Newton Street Private [Map]
- Thursday, 10/27 – 9-noon, – CRC – Babcock Lot at [Map]
There will be other awareness activities as well. One of these is the launch during awareness week of a new website dedicated to Information Security. The site will contain security tips and tricks, guidelines on how to configure your computers and phones to be more secure, training opportunities, news articles, links to policy and legal references and more.
