Description of Impact
Zoom experienced a company wide issue that impacted access to their suite of online services. Clients reported issues accessing online meetings, and other smaller sub-components of Zoom such as Zoom Chat and Zoom Phone.
Incident Description and Resolution
The vendor has resolved the incident; IS&T has confirmed that BU’s Zoom instances are now functioning as expected.
Additional Information
The cause of this incident was determined to be related to DNS for Zoom. Zoom has provided the following information for clients still encountering issues: For Windows: open a command prompt and type “ipconfig /flushdns” For Mac open: a terminal window and type “sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder” If clients need further assistance, or are still encountering issues, they are encouraged to contact the IT Help Center via 617-353-HELP (4357), or by emailing ithelp@bu.edu

Description of Impact
Zoom is currently experiencing outages across their platform. Clients are encountering issues logging into Zoom, creating meetings, and joining meetings. Sub-components of Zoom (such as Zoom Chat and Zoom Phone), are also impacted by this outage. We’ve confirmed this outage is widespread and impacting peer institutions.
Current Status
The vendor is aware of the outage and is working towards a fix.
Additional Information
There are no current workarounds for these issues (utilizing the Zoom platform) however BU does provide other collaboration capabilities via Microsoft Teams. More information is available here.
