New Enhancements to BU’s MyPrint Service

Over intersession, IS&T plans to implement some exciting new enhancements to BU’s MyPrint service. Soon MyPrint will be easier to use, with more options, and best of all… it will be more sustainable!

  • MyPrint printers will now have self-release functionality. Send your print job, go to your printer of choice, and swipe your Terrier Card. Your document will print immediately.
    • Self-release means we can eliminate cover sheets!
    • Self-release also means less wasted print! Never again will a print job be accidentally sent to a location, never to be picked up.
    • Self-release means the MyPrint service will be able to offer greater availability and accessibility. The only limitations around when and where you can print will be your access to and the hours the building is open.
  •  Less hassle; more options.
    • Instead of a print queue on your computer for every printer, there will only be three: color, black & white, and stapled (available only at Mugar). Choose the queue for the type of job you need.
    • Alternately, you can use the new web upload feature and forgo adding any print queues to your computer at all. This is also a great option for if you are on a computer that is not your own; it works on any device!
    • We have done an analysis and added some additional MyPrint printer locations. There will still be a primary hub at Mugar Library, and all of your favorite locations will still have a MyPrint printer.
    • Color printing will now be available at several locations. Color printing will not be part of your quota and you will be charged Convenience Points for printing in color.

When you return in January, you’ll need to remove existing MyPrint printers and add new ones. Information will be posted to the MyPrint page as we get closer to launching this enhancement. We will be in touch in the new year with details on how to add the new printers. You don’t need to do anything now. Printing will remain the same for the rest of the semester.
