Services Impacted: Microsoft Exchange web access via xmail.bu.edu
Description of Impact: Service was unavailable to clients on the “OIT” Exchange server; “503 Service Unavailable” errors. Exchange is still available via the Outlook client.
Incident Description & Resolution: The IIS service which provides the web service for the OIT Exchange mailboxes was not functioning correctly. After this server was restarted, the Microsoft Exchange xmail.bu.edu service resumed responding normally again. This same server malfunctioned last week; IS&T is investigating additional monitoring.

As a temporary work-around, it is possible to access xmail by manually changing the URL in the browser address bar from https://xmail.bu.edu/exchange/ to https://xmail.bu.edu/owa
