Resolved: Login issues were reported on many UIS applications

Description of Impact

Clients were intermittently unable to log in to The Links, RIMS, the Dental School’s SPS application and probably any UISCGI (“mainframe”) application.

Incident Description and Resolution

IS&T teams have resolved the incident.

Additional Information

The cause of this incident is still under investigation. The resolution came about because of a workaround put into place by Network Operations. If you continue to have issues, please contact the IT Help Center.

Description of Impact

Clients are continuing to experience login issues with UISCGI applications.

Current Status

At this time, our network team is experimenting with various solutions, and may escalate to the network vendor. Meanwhile, the Redis/Amazon team is continuing to troubleshoot and may switch to another node soon, which may cause currently connected clients to run into delays. Next Update: 05:15pm

Description of Impact

Login problems continue for UISCGI applications such as The LInks, SPS, Police Link and RIMS.

Current Status

Our teams continue to work with the vendor on this issue, and are continue to explore connections between BU and the vendor’s server. Next Update: 04:15pm

Description of Impact

We are still experiencing degraded service on any UISCGI application, such as the Student/Faculty/Business Links, RIMS, the Police Link or SPS.

Current Status

We are working with the vendor on this matter and also tracing packets out of our infrastructure to see why ~10 % are being lost. Next Update: 03:15pm

At this point, it appears that about 90% of the login requests to The Links, RIMS, SPS and other UIS applications are succeeding. Our team is continuing to work with the vendor on why the login process is degraded.

The Links are intermittently available, or very slow. Clients have also reported problems logging into RIMS and SPS .
