Scanning and Scoring Services Discontinued

Beginning on August 1, 2020, Scanning and Scoring Services will no longer be available as a service at Boston University due to current public health concerns as well as staffing changes. We encourage departments, faculty, and staff to move evaluations and course assessments online for the fall 2020 semester.

Alternatives to both Course Evaluations and Assessments are available online, and we will work to incorporate additional options into our service catalog.

Evaluation Alternatives:

CampusLabs Course Evaluations – Over the past several semesters we have migrated many schools and departments to the CampusLabs system for online course evaluations. We can help you convert your paper-based evaluation to digital format for easy distribution. Contact us for a consultation.

Assessment Alternatives:

Blackboard Learn – Blackboard offers quizzes and tests built directly into the course structure, with features like automatic grading for multiple-choice questions, timed assessments and auto-submit features to enhance security. See more on our TechWeb page.

Examsoft – Examsoft offers a secure assessment environment that helps prevent academic dishonesty. Summer 2020 marks the first time that Examsoft will be supported centrally. Licenses for each student must be acquired before using the application. Contact us for a consultation.

Online Proctoring – In the spring, the university negotiated rates with an online proctoring service, Examity. This online proctoring service monitors students as they take an exam to prevent academic dishonesty. Contact us to learn more about pricing and support for Examity.

We thank you for your understanding and want to help in transitioning your assessment and evaluation needs to digital platforms.
