Fall Shredding Event – October 3-5

Every year during the month of October, as part of National Cyber-Security Awareness Month, Boston University conducts an annual Information Security Awareness Campaign. We are happy to announce that we will once again be offering 3 days of free paper shredding and collection of unwanted computing equipment to be securely destroyed and recycled. We are collaborating with both BUMC IT and sustainability@BU so that we may provide a more holistic service to the BU community.

Shredding Event days are currently scheduled as:

  • Tuesday, 10/3 from 9-12 – In the Granby St. Parking Lot (CRC East: 665 Commonwealth Ave)
  • Wednesday, 10/4 from 9-12 – In the parking lot behind Agganis Arena (CRC West: 925 Commonwealth Ave)
  • Thursday, 10/5 from 10-1 – In front of the Talbot Building (BUMC: 715 Albany Street)

We will be shredding any documents and accepting hard drives, floppy disks, and other electronic storage devices that you bring to us. This way you can be sure that any sensitive data has been properly destroyed. To further the University’s efforts in diverting waste from landfills and incinerators, we will also accept office electronics (including computers and laptops), batteries, and ink/toner cartridges for recycling at the above events.
