Welcome to the COM Writing Center’s Resource Page

This site features handouts on various aspects of the writing process, as well as some related resources and links.  Students can download our handouts to use, save, or print out for later.

In this 4-part video series, COM’s Senior Associate Dean and Professor, Tammy Vigil, explains how to avoid plagiarism and other violations of BU’s academic conduct code. The videos provide useful tips and tools for citing, quoting, and paraphrasing when you write.

The Center for Career Development (CCD) and COM Career Services have excellent resources on how to write resumes and cover letters.  All BU students can schedule appointments at the CCD, and COM students can also make appointments at COM Career Services.

The Writing Centers at UNC-Chapel Hill, Purdue, and UW-Madison all offer excellent writing resources online. We’re also huge fans of The Academic Phrasebank, which provides “the right words” to say just about anything. We highly recommend these sites for tips and tools at every stage of the writing process.
