Dear BU Families,
As move-in days approach, we understand the excitement and stress that comes with this transition. To help ease the process, we invite you to join Parent & Family Programs for engaging activities designed to support you and your student. Connect with other families, enjoy refreshments, and gather valuable resources to ensure a smooth start to this exciting journey at BU. We can’t wait to welcome you!
Family Welcome Centers – Monday, August 24, 10 am–2 pm ET and Tuesday, August 25, 10 am–1 pm ET
Take a break during move-in and stop by our Family Welcome Center, located on the George Sherman Union (GSU) Plaza, 775 Commonwealth Avenue, for some light refreshments and community engagement. Members of the Dean of Students team will be there to greet you, answer any questions you may have, share information, and introduce you to fellow members of the BU family. Registration is not required.
New Family Farewell – Tuesday, August 25, 2-5 pm ET
Stop by the Agganis Arena, 925 Commonwealth Avenue, anytime between 2-5 pm, for some appetizers and refreshments! You might want a break after a busy move-in and the farewell is a perfect opportunity to meet with us in-person, connect with several campus resources, and get to know fellow BU parents. If possible, please register in advance of this event.
Your BU student is welcome to join you or to attend with new friends. However, immediately following the New Family Farewell, your student is encouraged to attend a new student barbecue. The BBQ is a student-only event so please plan accordingly.
As you get ready for move-in, here is some important information that will help prepare you and your student for the big day!
- Fall 2026 Move-in Details (& parking permit)
- Check-in Locations
- Packing List
- Mailing Guidelines
- Student Orientation
- Matriculation Information
The Matriculation Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, September 1, at 11 am ET. We do not expect families to remain in Boston for a week. Also, your student will be fully engaged with Orientation activities, evening social events, and making new friends during that time. That said, you are invited to watch a live-stream of the ceremony which will be available on this website.
Warmly,
