Visit Us

If you’re considering attending Boston University, you’ve probably done some research about us. But facts alone don’t tell the whole story. After all, choosing a college or university is a big step in your life. It isn’t just an academic decision. It’s personal. And the best way to see if BU is a good fit for you is to come to campus. Check out our visit programs below.

Visitor Programs for Students and Families

Information Session (1 hour)

Hear from a current student about life at BU and get helpful information about admissions and financial aid policies from an Admissions representative. This session is a great opportunity to get all your questions answered. Sign up online

Campus Tour (1 hour)

A student will lead you on a walking tour of campus where you’ll see everything from the Castle to the student union to the BU “Beach.” (Hint: no swimwear necessary.) This tour should give you a good sense of our campus, and our student tour guides will give you the inside information on BU life. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes. Sign up online

Eat “Lunch On Us” in the dining hall with a current student (1 hour)

Is it true what they say about dorm food? We think you’ll be surprised. Visiting students can join a current student for lunch and find out. These lunches are a great way to ask questions of a BU student and gain insights into BU from the student’s point of view. This option is open to students only, Monday through Friday at 12:30 p.m. Space is limited and advance notice of at least two weeks is required. Sign up online

Visit a school or college to get a detailed tour of the facilities

School and college visits are not currently available, but will resume this summer.

Inside the Application Process

We apologize, but this event is now full. We hope you will still visit us through one of our other campus visit options listed above.

So how exactly do you get into BU? There’s no magic formula, but we will share many useful insights with you and your family. Alongside other students and families, you will review case studies and participate in the BU Board of Admissions’ application review process to discover what makes an application competitive—and what doesn’t. You’ll also receive tips on how to make your own application stand out and learn what makes BU stand out among our peers.

Prospective students with disabilities

  • The Admissions Reception Center is not wheelchair-accessible, but an Admissions representative will be glad to meet with you in an accessible location. Please call us at 617-353-2318 to make arrangements.
  • Any prospective student or family member who would like a sign language interpreter or other accommodation while visiting should contact the Admissions office at least two weeks in advance at 617-353-2318 (TTY).

Group Visits

If you are looking to bring a group of 10-50 students for a campus visit, please submit our group visit request form.
