Prior to BU

Prior to beginning the Fall 2017 term at Boston University, I earned my BA in History and Political Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Throughout my college career I have worked various odd jobs and internships - everything from social media intern to bar tending to being a library assistant.

Why Public Relations

I chose Public Relations because throughout my time at Illinois I constantly found myself working in public relations. Whether it was my role as Student Body Vice President, a congressional intern, or as an intern for Illinois’ Director of Public Affairs, I was learning the fundamentals of the field and enjoying it. I was able to take skills from my history and political science courses and apply them successfully to a practical, exciting, and growing field. Honing my skills in a graduate program will prepare me to work better in the field.

Most Looking Forward To

I'm looking forward to being an active member of a community that has time and time again proven its worth. Both COM and the city of Boston have done that over the centuries and decades. BU will always have the revolutionary distinction of being the first school to create a full curriculum of Public Relations. Of course, the revolutionary nature of Boston itself needs no explanation. I hope that revolutionary spirit will guide me through the next three semesters!

After Graduation

After graduation, I have a few ideas of what I would like to do depending on how the cookie crumbles, I am hoping to work on some political campaigns in the summer of 2018 and find my way to Tallahassee, Florida, in January of 2019 with a PR or Com-related job with the state government. Should that not work out, all doors are open, but I'll be peaking through those which will lead me to a job in non-profit PR - hopefully higher education.

A Bit About Me

One of the most fun things I can think of is how I have been spending my summer. Currently, I am working with the local sheriff's office as an assistant on their Marine Unit - that means that I can to cruise up and down beautiful Lake Champlain every shift making sure boaters are having a safe and fun time!
