Keep in mind:

  • Orientation is more than a one-day experience: The required in-person orientation is intended to complement the information new students receive via the Summer Webinar Series and orientation website.
  • All new COM graduate students will also be invited to social and extracurricular events this fall. A schedule will be emailed.
  • Students do not need to bring anything to orientation and can dress casually.

Please check in to receive your name tag. Check-in will begin at 2 PM. Allow 10-20 minutes to check in before your first meeting.

2:30 PM – 3:30 PM Graduate Affairs Welcome & Student Q&A: Room 101

Join the Graduate Affairs team and current students who will welcome you to the College of Communication. There will be a Q&A panel to address students’ questions.

3:30 PM – 4:30 PM Academic and Faculty Meetings

All students will meet with faculty from their academic programs to discuss the upcoming semester, academic resources, and opportunities in their industry and program. Your faculty may also ask students to read a case study or work on a group activity. Please go to the classroom included below.

4:30 – 5:30 PM Continued Conversation & Refreshments

All students and faculty are welcome to come over to the CILSE building (610, Comm Ave, next door to COM) to keep chatting with classmates and COM staff. It’s optional! Students are welcome to join for a few minutes or the whole hour.
