The Washington Post: Research Merges Love and Science

An article from The Washington Post features insight from Steven Sandage, Albert and Jessie Danielsen director of research at the Danielsen Institute and professor of psychology of religion and theology at the School of Theology. Titled, “Here’s what science says is the secret ingredient to making your love spark,” the article references new research on humility and its relation to love. The article notes that the research defines humble individuals as people who:

“accurately assess their own strengths and weaknesses, are open to new ideas, and are able to appreciate the talents and needs of others.”

Professor Sandage’s research connects humility and forgiveness. Noting the importance of both in a relationship, he finds that individuals are more likely to be forgiving of their partners if they perceive them to be humble. His and other researchers’ insights continue to inform important findings in this emerging field of study. Read more at The Washington Post.
