In 2012, Boston University School of Theology was recognized as a sexually healthy and responsible seminary as defined by the Religious Institute, a national organization working in the area of sexuality and religion. BUSTH is one of twenty most sexually healthy and responsible seminaries in the country.
Marie Alford-Harkey, Director, Education and Training at the Religious Institute had the following to say about BUSTH:
“BU School of Theology meets 93% of the criteria of a sexually healthy and responsible seminary as defined by the RI, which is well above the threshold for inclusion on our list of sexually healthy and responsible seminaries. I am especially pleased to note the addition of gender identity/expression in the BUSTH community principles. Congratulations on joining this elite group!
There is currently only one institution that meets 100% of the criteria (Union Theological Seminary in New York) but BUSTH certainly doesn’t have far to go to get there. We’d love to stay in touch about further recommendations should you wish to pursue them.
We are grateful for seminaries like BUSTH that take seriously the commitment to sexual health in faith communities and society.”
We are very proud of this honor.
