Wading River Congregational Church is seeking a full-time, solo pastor who will proclaim the gospel as he or she leads worship, preaches, and teaches. The pastor will offer spiritual guidance, communicate well, support church activities and set an example of living a life of compassion and faith. He or she will administer church business and oversee church staff in cooperation with the church’s boards and committees.

This historic, traditional church dates from the 1672 founding of the hamlet. The current sanctuary was built in 1837 with additions through the mid-1990s and is a Riverhead Town Landmark. Located along the north shore of Suffolk County, Long Island, one mile from the beautiful Wading River beach and adjacent to two fresh-water ponds, the church is the center of “old” Wading River village.
The hamlet of Wading River, 60 miles east of Manhattan, is the gateway to Long Island’s north fork – well known for picturesque vineyards, farms, small towns, and vacation destinations. The community includes Wildwood State Park and is adjacent to protected land to the west and south. Recreational opportunities on land and water abound.
The highly-ranked Shoreham-Wading River School District comprises 2040 students in grades K-12. Nearby higher education and research facilities include: Brookhaven National Laboratory, Suffolk County Community College and SUNY Stony Brook. The North Shore Public Library serves Wading River, Shoreham, and Rocky Point, and offers a multitude of programs for all ages. Concerts and theater programs occur regularly in the community and surrounding areas.
