Part-Time RELIGIOUS EDUCATION COORDINATOR: Wellesley, MA
St. Andrew’s, a small Episcopal parish north of Boston, is seeking an educator to revitalize and expand its Sunday School program.
The coordinator is expected to:
Education
- Develop curriculum materials for the classroom
- Recruit, mentor, coordinate and supervise teacher volunteers
- Develop classroom space
- Manage the costs and expenses of Sunday school, including the ordering of supplies
- Organize special events of program year such as Christmas pageant, Easter egg hunt, Welcome Back Sunday, Recognition Sunday
Communication
- Communicate weekly with parents and volunteers about lessons, activities, schedules, etc.
- Use social networking and electronic media to expand and enhance the program
- Write reports and updates to parish newsletter, website and annual report
- Report to/meet with rector and Vestry regularly
- Allot time for relationship building with families with children, especially newcomers, and wider parish
Qualifications
- Faithful Christian; if not an Episcopalian, a willingness to learn our tradition
- Background in education
- Communication/networking skills
- Ability to organize, coordinate, supervise and motivate volunteers
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
The position is seven hours a week, including Sunday, from August – May. Except for Sunday mornings, hours are flexible. Salary range is $15-$20/hr.
