Director of Children's Ministries, First Congregational Church of Braintree, MA
First Congregational Church of Braintree is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and spiritually grounded individual with a particular call for ministering to children to serve as Director of Children’s Ministries. This person will possess strong verbal and written communication skills, theological depth, and the ability to motivate young people and their families toward a deeper and more vibrant faith in God. The DCM will work under the supervision of and in conjunction with the Pastor and will oversee the Children’s Ministries Team. He/She will report to the Board of Deacons, as needed.
We are a church experiencing energy and growth through our ministries and outreach to families, children, and young adults in the South Shore area. This position provides room for new, creative ideas and exploratory ministries. Come grow with us in faith!
Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership and direction in guiding the educational Sunday school program of the church;
• Call and lead monthly meetings of the Children’s Ministries Team;
• Select Sunday school curriculum, train and schedule Sunday school teachers, supply classrooms with resources, and teach Sunday school;
• Write a monthly “Kid’s Corner” article for the church newsletter;
• Work with Children’s Ministries Team to organize community outreach events for families and children, such as the Harvest Festival, Polar Express, and Easter egg hunt;
• Organize and lead Vacation Bible School in August of each year;
• Periodically prepare and deliver Children’s Messages in worship. There will be additional opportunities to lead worship, if desired.
Terms of Employment
• Approximately 8 hours per week for 36 weeks per year, September 14, 2014 through June 21, 2015
• Hours are flexible, with the exception of Sundays, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
• Rate of pay is $20/hour
• Holidays and vacation time to be worked out in advance with the Pastor
• Employment is conditional on passing the CORI check
