Contextual Education Learning Agreement Form for Placements

Learning Agreements are the means by which students, supervisors, and ITP (Integration of Theology and Practice course) leaders work out the details of field placement internships. Each Learning Agreement should be designed to align with the overall educational goals of the student, the student’s degree track or specialization, and the specific tasks or activities that will take place at the placement. A well-constructed Learning Agreement will provide a framework and reference point for all parties involved so that the expectations of the student, site, and the ITP leader are clear and mutually understood. The Learning Agreement should also help guarantee that evaluations and negotiated changes proceed from a concrete basis.

The Learning Agreement can be downloaded below, and is not considered “complete” until it includes signatures from all parties involved in the student’s supervision, as well as the student themselves. Students should submit their completed Learning Agreement form to their ITP Leader on the due date(s) indicated in their syllabus. The ITP Leader will send the final draft of the Learning Agreement to the Contextual Education Office for approval and filing in the student’s Contextual Education record.
