Reverend Mariama White-Hammond told the crowd that as they marched towards City Hall Plaza, they would walk by the monument honoring Dr. Martin Luther King and his wife Coretta Scott King.
She noted that Friday, April 4, was the anniversary of Martin Luther King’s death. She said that Martin Luther King had posed the question while alive: “Where do we go from here — chaos or community?”
She continued that the country had already gotten the answer from Trump: chaos.
“We are the country of Martin Luther King,” she said. “We are choosing community.”
