Rev. Beverley J. Faulk (STH’70)

Beverley June Faulk was a caring spouse, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She left this world on June 27, 2022, at the age of 82 after a month-long stay in the hospital. She was born to Ruby “Pat” Hayre and Elmer Morris Faulk on May 29, 1940. After graduating from Bowling Green University, she taught school in Flint, MI, and Asheville, NC. She felt called to go into ministry, attended Boston University School of Divinity, and was ordained an Elder in The United Methodist Church on January 3, 1972, by Bishop Francis Gerald Ensley. After serving at United Methodist churches in Commercial Point and Pleasantville, OH, Bev entered chaplaincy and served 25 years at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN focusing most of that career in the neo-natal unit. While working at Methodist Hospital, Bev finished her Ph.D. in counseling. After retirement, she relocated to Hudson, MI where she became the co-owner of the local newspaper, the Hudson Post-Gazette in 2018. She met Barbara Ireland, the love of her life, in 1997 and married her on August 13, 2013. Bev loved reading, watching WNBA basketball (especially the Indiana Fever), playing sudoku and other games on her computer as well as traveling when she was able. Her children Kiah (Abi) and Rayna (Cupcake) were her pride and joy. She is survived by her wife, Barbara Ireland, children Kiah Conway and Rayna Defoor, grandchildren Aaylah Conway and Dante Defoor Jr., and great-grandson Ellis Keeling, along with 18 nieces and nephews, 30 great-nieces and nephews, and 5 great-great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Ruby “Pat” and Clarence Hayre and Lucy and Elmer Faulk, sister Debra Ann Hayre, and niece Melissa Stiverson. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Eagle-Marry Funeral Home in Hudson, Michigan from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. followed by a time of memory sharing and celebration. A light lunch will be served at Rumors Restaurant immediately following.
