Fieldwork Job Description:
IISF is interested in exploring pockets of sexually progressive religious professionals in Christianity. To that end, we seek a seminarian to research and assess the level of openness and awareness in the wider church and culture in order to create a strategy for relationships and partnerships, beginning with a database. The intern will research and identify potential progressive Christian partners whose educational and/or theological values are consistent with the IISF values of inclusivity, scientifically-based and progressively Christian, including: a) seminaries, with particular interest and educational focus on LGBTQIA+ communities and/or seminaries that are predominately serving students of color, b) individual progressive professors who teach pastoral care and/or sexual ethics, c) influential ‘big steeple’ churches and pastors, d) influential national leadership on the issues of religion or Christian identity and sexual liberation, and e) key seminary professors who teach sexuality related courses. Once compiled, with the guidance of the IISF board, the intern would develop a plan to initiate contact to market the educational aspects of the IISF training program. Tasks associated with the research project will be assigned and supervised by a designated board
member. The theological learning and goals of the seminarian would be supervised by an IISF designated clergy.
