Grace United Methodist Church in Lynn is looking for a Part-Time Youth Director (20 hours a week).   We are looking for an energetic and a creative Youth Director who will promote Spiritual Growth among Middle and High School Youth through activities and Bible study, encourage involvement in Outreach Ministries, present the Christian faith in ways that will enable youth to discover and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, and to help their awareness of God’s great love for them and God’s desire to be a part of their lives.

Application for Youth Pastor Position
Objectives:   To promote Spiritual Growth among Middle and High School Youth and to encourage involvement in Outreach Ministries.  To present the Christian faith in ways that will enable youth to discover and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and to help their awareness of God’s great love for them and God’s desire to be a part of their lives.
Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and lead Youth Ministry Programs for Junior and Senior High groups, with assistance from Adult Volunteers, Supervisory Team and Pastors.
  2. Plan and lead retreats, outreach programs, and mission trips with Youth Council Team.
  3. Connect youth with various interfaith opportunities in the area and United Methodist Youth activities in the New England Conference.
  4. Plan and lead at least one Youth Worship Service a year in each of the 3 churches.
  5. Meet with every youth and assess his/her spiritual needs and encourage involvement where appropriate, i.e. Sunday School, Worship, UMYF, choir, etc.
  6. Be available to youth for Pastoral care, or refer to the Pastor when it is appropriate.
  7. Help recruit and train adult leaders to assist with both middle and high School Youth Ministry.
  8. Submit budget requests for Middle and High School youth and develop a spending plan.
  9. Prepare an annual report for Charge conference.
  10. Promote and coordinate Christian service, outreach, and missions with the youth.
  11. Prepare regular articles for each church’s newsletter.
  12. Attend staff meetings once a month.
  13. Attend Church Council meetings to report and coordinate youth activities with church activities.
  14. Attend and participate in the Sunday Worship.
  15. Make a full commitment to the Safe Church policies.

Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher
  2. Satisfactorily complete a CORI check with the Commonwealth of MA.
  3. Have, or be willing to obtain certification in First Aid and CPR.
  4. Seminary Student and/or someone who has experience working with Youth would be a plus.
