PART-TIME SOCIAL WORKER: Lawrence, MA

Esperanza Academy, a tuition free, independent middle school for underserved girls in Lawrence, Mass., seeks a part-time social worker to join our faculty beginning July 1, 2014.  The social worker reports to the principal and supports the educational, social, emotional, and spiritual development of the students.
Responsibilities:

  • Provides counseling in both individual and group format to students, graduates, and caregivers as necessary
  • Develops partnerships with neighboring resources and advocates referrals for additional counseling and support needs
  • Participates in the admissions review and new student orientation process, including conducting home visits in conjunctions with admission staff
  • Develops and implements an education and support program for caregivers in partnership with the principal, head of school, and leadership team
  • Establishes collaborative relationships with diverse community organizations in Lawrence

Qualified candidates must be a licensed clinical social worker or possess a master’s degree in social work, have extensive experience working with an urban population, and be fluent in written and spoken Spanish.  Experience in a school environment is also highly desirable.
Hours: 24 hours per week
Hiring Timeline: Position is available beginning July 1, 2014, and will remain open until filled.
Salary: Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience. Health/dental benefits available.
