What do BU researchers, genetic counselors, philosophers, psychologists, master flutists, visual artists, mothers, and mothers-to-be have in common? They are among the 55 recipients of the 2024 BU Women’s Guild (BUWG) scholarships. This year, the BUWG awarded over $250,000 to support BU graduate students.

The BUWG scholarships support women, and those who identify as female, in Boston University graduate programs, as well as BU women writers, with awards ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. Since 1977, the organization has distributed over $800,000 in scholarships to more than 400 Boston University graduate students.

School of Theology Master of Divinity student Anna Jeide-Detweiler (’25) was awarded a BU Women’s Guild Council Scholarship. Of her award, she says “As a mother and an aspiring minister, I am so thankful to the BU Women’s Guild/Council for their support. This scholarship provides necessary funds for childcare as I continue my studies, complete contextual education, and further hone my skills in the area of conflict transformation.” More information about the award and Anna’s work can be found on the BU Women’s Guild website

The awards ceremony took place on May 23rd at BU’s Metcalf Trustee’s Ballroom, featured keynote speaker Dr. Barbara Jones, Dean of the BU School of Social Work, and welcomed over 100 guests.
