BUSTH PhD Graduates Appointed to Assistant Professorships

Boston University School of Theology is pleased to announce the academic appointments of recent PhD graduate Dr. Yara González-Justiniano (STH MDiv’14, PhD’19), and PhD candidate Timothy Adkins-Jones (STH MDiv’09, PhD’20).

Dr. Yara González-Justiniano was named Visiting Assistant Professor of Practical Theology and Community at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary (Garrett) in Evanston, Illinois, effective July 1. “I teach because I believe that education (institutionalized or noninstitutionalized) shapes our society. It has the potential to transform it as it insists in liberative and integral practices,” Dr. González-Justiniano said in the announcement on Garrett’s website. Her research interests include Latinx theologies, cultural identity and memory studies, postcolonial theory, popular culture, and popular religion. 

Union Theological Seminary in New York, New York has announced the appointment of Timothy Adkins-Jones as the new Assistant Professor of Homiletics, effective July 1. Timothy Adkins-Jones is a PhD candidate at Boston University School of Theology (BUSTH), with a concentration in homiletics. Adkins-Jones is the current pastor of the historic Bethany Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey.
