STAFF RECOGNITION AND AWARDS SUBCOMMITTEE

CHARGE

 The Staff Recognition & Awards Subcommittee is an extension of the Staff Senate working group. Established to acknowledge staff achievements, behaviors, and strong work ethics that embody the school’s mission and values. The objective of this committee is to develop a recognition system that will increase team morale, staff resilience and reward staff for excellence at BUSPH. It is also designed to stimulate innovation and approaches toward work related tasks/projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES                   

 To carry out this charge the Staff Recognition and Awards Sub-Committee will: 

  1. Identify new opportunities for programs aimed at recognizing and rewarding the work of SPH staff and communicate those opportunities to the Staff Senate and Ira Lazic, Associate Dean for Administration and Finance for review.
  2. Establish and develop a Staff Recognition and Awards program.
  3. Develop recommendations for selection criteria for recognition and awards 
  4. Create recommendations for the nomination processes for recognition and awards programs 
  5. Regularly communicate with members of Communications and Staff Survey sub-committees to solicit staff feedback on recognition and award programs.
  6. Promote awareness of Staff Recognition and Award programs to the SPH community.

TIME COMMITMENT

Staff Recognition & Awards Subcommittee meets minimally once a month. This group may be required to convene more frequently to plan, monitor and finalize recognition and award programs. Any staff at BUPSH are welcome to join at any time, including non-senate members. If you are interested in joining the Staff Recognition and Awards committee, please email staffsen@bu.edu.

STAFF SURVEY SUB-COMMITTEE

CHARGE

The Staff Survey Subcommittee serves to analyze yearly staff survey results related to areas of community interest including Staff/Faculty working relations, BUSPH Culture and Work-life Balance, Professional Development and Staff Benefits. This sub-committee works closely with other staff senate subcommittees in cooperation with the goals of faculty/staff relations, professional development, and staff recognition. Chaired by Andree Entezari (Lifelong Learning).

RESPONSIBILITIES

To carry out this charge the Staff Survey Sub-Committee will: 

  1. Analyze yearly Staff Survey data
  2. Review Staff Survey data with the Senate
  3. Present annual data to school-wide audience
  4. Work with other subcommittees to identify major gaps and areas of growth for the school using staff survey results  

TIME COMMITMENT

The Staff Survey Subcommittee meets minimally once a month. This group may be required to convene more frequently to review, analyze and prepare presentations of survey results. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING SUBCOMMITTEE

CHARGE

The Professional Development and Training Sub-committee identifies needs and develops programs for personal and professional development of BUSPH Staff in order to: improve performance, aid in mentorship, support career advancement, and increase job satisfaction and retention. This subcommittee works in conjunction with other senate subcommittees in order to plan and execute events and programs related to staff development and training. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

To carry out this charge the Staff Survey Subcommittee will: 

  1. Work with the staff survey subcommittee to identify staff development opportunities and create programs to address these gaps
  2. Collaborate with existing BUSPH platforms promoting and creating development opportunities for staff 
  3. Plan and promote lunch and learns for BUSPH faculty and staff 

TIME COMMITMENT 

The Professional Development and Training Subcommittee meets minimally once a month. This group may be required to convene more frequently to plan, monitor and finalize professional development and training events or programs. Any staff at BUPSH are welcome to join at any time, including non-senate members. COMMUNICATIONS SUBCOMMITTEE 

CHARGE 

The BUSPH Staff Senate Communications Subcommittee is an extension of the Staff Senate working group. This subcommittee’s objective is to create streamlined communication between subcommittees, the Staff Senate, and the school at large.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Undertake responsibilities related to communications including the origination and distribution of all publicity and information relating to the Staff Senate.
  2. Post all communications and maintain the Staff Senate website.

TIME COMMITMENT

The Communications Subcommittee meets minimally once a month. This group may be required to convene more frequently if called upon by the Senate. This subcommittee is open to elected members of the Staff Senate. FACULTY STAFF RELATIONS SUBCOMMITTEE 

CHARGE 

The Faculty Staff Subcommittee is an extension of the Staff Senate working group in coalition with the Faculty Senate. Established to facilitate positive relations and growth of staff and faculty. This joint subcommittee to bridge divisions between the two groups of the University.

The aim of the Staff Senate and Faculty Senate is to build empathy and promote inter-cooperation on projects and teams. 

RESPONSIBILITIES                   

 To carry out this charge the Faculty Staff Relations Subcommittee will: 

  1. Build Empathy between university staff and faculty
  2. Promote inter-cooperation on projects and teams
  3. Listen to community members and bring discussion to the senates and deans

TIME COMMITMENT

Faculty Staff Relations Subcommittee meets minimally once a month. This group may be required to convene more frequently as needed.
