The Faculty & Staff Assistance Office (FSAO)
Each BU community member who needs support with a workplace transition, affirmation, or coming out process can elect to work with the Faculty & Staff Assistance Office (FSAO). The FSAO can provide sensitive and knowledgeable guidance and support.
The FSAO is available to:
- address questions and concerns and provide confidential emotional support to you through the process.
- help you develop an individualized plan based on your preferences and requests. The plan might include changes to your administrative and personnel records as well as communication with those you interact with in your job (e.g. departments, clients, team, staff, faculty, students, etc).
- help plan communications and attend communication meetings, if desired.

The LGBTQIA+ Center for Faculty & Staff
The LGBTQIA+ Center for Faculty & Staff serves all BU campuses and engages the BU community to foster a sense of belonging and connectedness for LGBTQIA+ faculty and staff; increase the visibility of LGBTQIA+ resources, research, and scholarship; celebrate the contributions of the diverse LGBTQIA+ community at BU; and improve recruitment and retention of LGBTQIA+ faculty and staff in the development of an inclusive and equitable workplace. The Center is a physical and virtual space where members of the community can network, share experiences, engage in intellectual interchange, and find community. The Center provides programming, consultation, professional development, resources, and advocacy that fosters an inclusive and affirming living, learning, and workplace environment. Through an intersectional focus, collaboration, and opportunities for synergy, the Center seeks to spark transformation.
The LGBTQIA+ Center for Faculty & Staff provides programming, resources, and training by, for, and about, transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming identity and experience.
