Holiday & Intersession Announcement

Dear Boston University Faculty & Staff,

I am pleased to announce the publication of our holiday and intersession schedule for September 2026 through August 2027. The total number of holidays and intersession days is 18.

A complete list of the University holidays and intersession dates through Independence Day 2027 are available on the Boston University Calendar site.

Boston University will observe an intersession holiday period starting on Thursday, December 24, 2026, and will reopen on Monday, January 4, 2027.

Employees not covered by collective bargaining agreements will receive time off at their regular rate of pay during intersession. Employees who are required to work and to perform essential services will receive compensatory time off at a later time in accordance with the Emergency University Closing Policy. As you may know, time off and pay during intersession for represented employees are governed by their collective bargaining agreements.
