Nikki Young

Assistant Director of Contextual Education

Rev. Nikki Young serves as Assistant Director of Contextual Education at the Boston University School of Theology, a role that bridges her passions for liberative theological education and empowering community leaders. Nikki began her leadership within Contextual Ed in the fall of 2022, having previously served as the Assistant Pastor of Union United Methodist Church in the South End of Boston.

Nikki is currently pursuing a PhD in Practical Theology at BUSTH. Her research sits at the intersections of feminist/womanist theologies, trauma studies, and critical race theory as she revises Christian preaching practice in light of white supremacy. She considers the harm Christian preaching has wrought against vulnerable bodies and asks what our responsibility is to one another even as we proclaim justice. Nikki leads workshops and clinics on trauma-informed preaching for area clergy and student groups and encourages those who dare to speak to always consider who cannot.

Nikki is a provisionally ordained Elder in the New England Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. She and her fiancé, Ashley, reside in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
