Jacob Leal
PhD Student in Constructive Theology
Academic Concentration
Constructive Theology
Research Interests
My research focuses on what remains in the afterlife of colonial trauma in both Mexican culture and Mexican people. I am specifically interested in Mexican understandings of the ancestors that are rooted in precolonial Indigenous cultures and how Indigenous ancestors haunt structures of coloniality, offering important contributions to Constructive Theology. In my work I utilize liberation theologies, decolonial theory, and trauma studies.
