Cristina PérezProfile

Cristina Pérez Calleja, PhD, has been teaching literature, theatre, translation and language at Boston University since 2001. Cristina grew up in Spain but partook in an exchange program her final year of high school, where she spent the year in Pennsylvania studying English language. She went on earn a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami, and a Master’s and PhD at Boston University. As a 12 year foreign-exchange student, Cristina understands and connects with her study abroad students and their experiences in Madrid. Her work focuses on the Silver age of Literature and Arts in Spain, during the Franco Era in Spain. She has taught at Boston University and Tufts University in the USA and she is currently the professor of the Internship program at Boston University in Madrid. Her Translation class at BU is an interesting, immersive class where students watch scenes from movies and TV series in English and translate the scenes in SpanishAs Director of the BankBoston Language Executive program with more than 175 adult students, Cristina trained American bankers and employees in Spanish and Portuguese Languages to be able to work in South America and Brazil.
