The CGHD regularly offers internships and job opportunities to current MPH, DrPH, MD, and other students across all disciplines in the Boston University School of Public Health and other BU schools and colleges. Internships and job placements provide students with the opportunity to work directly with CGHD faculty and staff; contribute to current research projects and center activities; and develop highly desired skill sets in the public health field. Opportunities range from domestic to international placements and may or may not be compensated. Internships may also be eligible to fulfill the MPH practicum requirement. | Zambia Intern | Intern Scope of Work
The Center for Global Health & Development (CGHD) at Boston University provides 6-month technical internships in Zambia to MPH students. Interns work through the Zambia Center for Applied Health Research and Development (ZCAHRD) to support the work of several research and service delivery projects ongoing in Southern Province, Zambia. As an intern you will be based in one of the ZCAHRD field offices in Lusaka, Mazabuka, Livingstone, Kalomo or Choma. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated cultural sensitivity, an ability to work both independently and with groups, a good attitude, be proactive, flexible, have strong communication skills in a multicultural setting, and be a creative thinker. Available Positions We are currently accepting applications for the July – December 2012 internship. Funded positions are currently available for the following projects: • Costs and Outcomes of HIV/AIDS Treatment • Zambia Chlorhexidine Application Trial (ZamCAT) • Boston University Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission Integration Project (BUPIP) • Pneumonia Etiology Research for Child Health(PERCH) • Saving Mothers Giving Life Benefits All interns will be provided airfare, housing, medical evacuation insurance, visa, and a fixed living allowance to live modestly. Practicum This internship may be used to fulfill the MPH Practicum requirement. Requirements A 6-month placement commitment in Zambia is required. Selected interns will also be required to obtain a CORI form and undergraduate transcripts and diploma in order to apply for a Zambian volunteer work permit.
