9/28: Prof. López & CISWH Colleague Share Expertise at Panel on Transnational Social Protection

Prof. Luz M. López of Boston University School of Social Work (BUSSW) joins BU colleague Muhammad Zaman and the authors of Transnational Social Protection: Social Welfare Across National Borders (Oxford University Press) for a book discussion hosted by the Migration Studies Workshop. The authors – Peggy Levitt, Erica Dobbs, Ken Sun, and Ruxandra Paul – will deliver a presentation on the book, followed by a panel discussion with Profs. López and Zamad who work together at the Center for Innovation in Social Work & Health at BUSSW.

Transnational Social Protection: Social Welfare Across National Borders argues against the idea that eligibility for social rights depends on citizenship or where we live, exploring how migrants and their families increasingly draw social protections from multiple sources in a world where more and more people are living, working, and retiring outside of their countries of citizenship.

The event is co-sponsored by BU’s Center for Innovation in Social Sciences and Department of Sociology.
