The Online MSW Experience

• While your course content will include online lectures, videos, interactive animations, discussion boards, electronic portfolios, and more, our Live Classroom experience sets us apart.
• These highly interactive sessions meet on Sunday or Monday evening, with independent work and self-paced learning taking place throughout the week.
• The sessions feature dynamic discussions and the opportunity for you to engage with classmates via peer groups, dyads, and group projects.
• The added flexibility in your schedule makes it easier to balance your practicum experience, an essential component of your MSW journey.
• Our small virtual classes include students from across the nation, so you will also learn about social work practice in other regions and settings as you build your professional network.

BUSSW is home to a committed team that provides support throughout your academic experience. In your first semester, you will be assigned a student services administrator (SSA) who will support you in reaching your goals. All online students participate in group advising sessions and an ongoing interactive professional development seminar. These provide an extended orientation to the Online Program and prepare you for your field experience, job search, and beyond.

We are committed to providing a comprehensive, user-friendly experience for all of our online students throughout your time in the Online MSW Program.

You’ll develop formal and informal networks of support throughout your time in the Online Program. Beyond your coursework, you’ll participate in the Online Student Community Center, as well as connect virtually to on-campus events.

• BU Student Health Services provides emergency mental health assessments and interventions.
