Advanced Placement (AP)

Advanced Placement (AP) credits are college-level credits earned prior to matriculating at Boston University and may be applied toward degree requirements. Individual BU schools or colleges may have additional restrictions on AP credit applicability.

To qualify for AP credit, first-year students must take AP exams before matriculation. For accurate degree planning and advising, students are encouraged to submit all AP scores prior to the first day of their first semester at BU. Transfer students’ previously awarded AP credits will be reevaluated during the transfer credit evaluation process.

All students must submit official AP exam scores through the College Board using BU’s code, 3087. Boston University reserves the right to modify AP credit policies without prior notice.

AP credit is awarded following the guidelines outlined in the Advanced Credit Guide chart.

AP credit is evaluated based on the term a student matriculates to Boston University. Below are archived AP Credit Guides to reference.
