Please note that dual enrollment policies vary by state, and Boston University may not follow the individual state policies related to dual enrollment credit as communicated by your high school or the college where you completed your coursework.

College-level coursework completed through a high school or dual enrollment program is subject to the following conditions to be eligible for BU credit:

  • Courses used to fulfill high school graduation requirements are not eligible for credit at Boston University.
  • The college or university where the coursework was completed must be fully accredited.
  • The course must align with a Boston University course or be deemed equivalent in academic rigor.
  • A minimum grade of C is required.
  • The course must be part of the institution’s standard curriculum as published in their Bulletin.
  • The course must be open to regular enrollment and graded competitively with matriculated undergraduate students.

To seek credit for pre-matriculation college-level coursework, you must:

  • Request that the college or university send an official transcript and course syllabus to the University Registrar for transfer credit evaluation.
  • Have your high school counselor submit a signed Dual Enrollment Verification Form to the University Registrar, confirming that the coursework did not satisfy high school graduation requirements.
  • Please refer to Transferology to see courses that have been previously transferred into BU. If your courses appear in the database, you do not need to submit syllabi for those courses. However, for all courses not in the database, you will need to submit complete syllabi for evaluation.
  • Submit syllabi for evaluation. If you are an incoming student, please submit syllabi via the MyBU Applicant Portal. If you no longer have access to the MyBU Applicant Portal, you need to submit syllabi as PDF documents to credeval@bu.edu.
