Rolling Deadlines
Faculty Affiliate Program. We are now accepting applications on a rolling basis for Faculty Affiliates. BU faculty and full-time lecturers from across the university who are engaged in research, teaching, or training in social sciences are eligible. Affiliate benefits include (a) opportunities to participate in Center activities and network with social scientists through affinity groups, pilot grant programs, paid student internships, workshops, conferences, and book events; (b) access to Center research support and services, media outreach, and event promotion; and (c) opportunities for leadership including serving on the Steering Committee and subcommittees. Affiliate terms are for five years, contingent on active participation in the Center. Please contact Deborah Carr, Director, Center for Innovation in Social Sciences (carrds@bu.edu), with any questions.
The Center for the Humanities is reviewing applications for funds to support production costs after a peer-reviewed publication with direct relevance to the humanities has been accepted for publication but before it has gone to press. The Center is unable to reimburse expenses that have already been paid out. You must apply well in advance of your book’s publication so that the Center can be mentioned as a sponsor in your book’s acknowledgments. Please note that single-author monographs are strongly preferred to edited volumes. Allowable expenses include indexing, subventions, permissions, and images. Proofreading and copy editing are not allowable expenses. You may apply at this link here.
The Center for the Humanities is accepting applications for off-cycle faculty projects. The Center requests detailed information about your project, an explanation of why you were unable to meet the official deadline, a complete budget outline, and a letter of support from your department chair or program director (please request this letter well before the deadline so that you can upload it as part of the application). Because the Center’s budget is set one year in advance, off-cycle awards are capped at $500 except under unusual circumstances. Please write to buch@bu.edu with any questions. You may find out more and submit your application here.
The Jewish Cultural Endowment (JCE) supports Jewish cultural programs across the University, sponsoring lectures, conferences, literary events, curricular enhancement, and artistic performances and exhibitions. Its mission is to foster an appreciation of Jewish culture in all its richness and diversity. The JCE invites grant proposals from individuals (faculty, students, and staff) with access to a BU program administration that will be responsible for planning, promoting and executing the event. JCE funded events must take place on the BU campus and should directly benefit the BU community. There are three submission deadlines each year in February, May and October. Discover more about this opportunity here.
The Hariri Institute for Computing’s Focused Research Programs (FRPs) support intensive, faculty-driven efforts in large, multi-disciplinary teams. The FRP mission is to evolve and advance BU’s research in computing, computational, and data-driven science and engineering around areas of strategic importance and emerging opportunity. FRPs are expected to be a year in length, defined by a single overarching research theme. The Institute expects to fund Focused Research Programs at the level of $100,000 – $150,000, per program, for one year of support. In making FRP awards, the Institute supports research programs by providing FRP Workshop(s), event and meeting support, and grant submission support. Faculty interested in submitting a proposal are strongly encouraged to discuss their ideas with the Hariri Institute’s Director, Yannis Paschalidis, yannisp@bu.edu. Pre-proposals are due by February 2, 2023 and full-proposals are due by April 6, 2023. Find out more here.
