Leadership Board

Kara Jackman

Kara is an Archivist at Boston University by day and a freelance writer by night.  She is the Marketing and Communications Coordinator for Children’s Craniofacial Association. She spent 7 years on the Board of Directors on the Foundation for faces of children located in Boston, MA.  She was born with bilateral cleft lip and palate and hopes to inspire others with facial differences and disabilities through her words and actions.

Rick Seaholm

Vice Chair

Rick has worked at the Questrom School of Business ITS since fall 2006 and has been a member of the adjunct Information Systems facults since 2017.  Recently diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s disease, he is new to the disabilities community and sees tremendous value, both personal and institutional, in the development of SAFEBUDS.  Outside of BU, he is the Commissioned Minister of Music of Edwards Church in Framingham.  He leads the church choir (when in session) and teaches classes in music appreciation.

Megan Sullivan

Professor Megan Sullivan

Megan Sullivan is Associate Professor of Rhetoric at the College of General Studies (CGS) and Assistant Provost for Academic Assessment ad interim in the Office of the Provost. In part because she was ill as a child, and in part because she has family members and loved ones who have disabilities, Megan has always sought to educate others about ableism and disability rights. She is honored to become part of the SAFEBUDS leadership team, because she admires the work the group is doing, and because she wants to encourage family members and allies to help create the most welcoming BU community possible.
