About Educational Technology
Welcome to Educational Technology
Technology informs, inspires collaboration and builds community, and the use of educational technology tools support and strengthen the teaching and learning experience at Boston University.
Digital Learning & Innovation Educational Technology (EdTech) team is well-versed in teaching as well as technology. Our staff, comprised of trained educational technologists, platform administrators, and data analysts, some of whom are teaching faculty—provide training and guidance to Boston University academic leadership, faculty, and graduate student instructors.
The Educational Technology (EdTech) team helps all BU faculty and academic staff to learn technological tools for more effective teaching. We offer one-on-one and small group consultation on the use of technology tools to accelerate better student engagement and to support innovative experiments in learning. We work closely with the Center for Teaching & Learning and the Shipley Center to aid in successful design of courses and programs.
The Platform Administration team administers and maintains key educational technology platforms supported centrally by Boston University, in collaboration with Information Services & Technology (IS&T). The group handles integration of new and existing platforms and responds to support inquiries. Key platforms include but are not limited to the Learning Management Systems, Lecture Capture, Streaming Instructional Video Platform, Grading Support Tools, and Assessment Management System.
Data Analytics unit focuses on developing a large-scale analytics system with all accessible educational data sources. It supports data-informed decision-making at Boston University to improve different aspects of teaching and learning, including but not limited to student’s academic performance, engagement, interaction, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
