Professor Spencer Authors Youth Mentoring Section of New Research in Action Series

SSW Assistant Professor Renee Spencer is a contributor to MENTOR’S new Research in Action series. Professor Spencer’s contribution is on the issue of  “Why Youth Mentoring Relationships End” and may be accessed at http://www.mentoring.org/downloads/mentoring_386.pdf

According to MENTOR’S website, “The Research in Action series contains 10 issues on some of the most pressing topics facing the youth mentoring field. The foundation of each issue is research–an article written by a leading scholar who summarizes the latest research and offers insight into the implications of that research on mentoring practice. Those implications are then expanded into tools, activities, resources, or training exercises in the action section, providing practitioners with a concrete application of the research findings in their everyday operations. Finally, each issue concludes with a list of additional resources on the topic.”

For more than a decade, MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership has been working to expand the world of quality mentoring. MENTOR believes that, with the help and guidance of an adult mentor, each child can discover how to unlock and achieve his or her potential. MENTOR is widely acknowledged as the nation’s premier advocate and resource for the expansion of mentoring initiatives nationwide.
