Professor Geron Appointed to Board of Commonwealth Care Alliance
Dr. Scott Miyake Geron, Associate Professor of Social Welfare Policy and Director of the School’s Institute for Geriatric Social Work, has been appointed to the Board of the Commonwealth Care Alliance (CCA), an important health care organization in Massachusetts that provides services to the Medicare/Medicaid dually eligible population (mostly older adults and adults w/ disabilities). Dr. Geron was the keynote speaker at CCA’s 2008 annual conference. CCA is particularly interested in his research on assessing quality from the consumer/patient point of view and developing my help in developing a patient-centered care system. Dr. Geron may also be doing some consulting with the organization.
Commonwealth Care Alliance, Inc. (CCA) is a not-for-profit care delivery system committed to providing integrated health care and related social support services. Created in 2003, CCA is a “consumer-governed” organization offering a full spectrum of medical and social services for people with complex needs covered under Medicaid and for those “dually eligible” covered by both Medicaid and Medicare, including older adults (65+); individuals with serious physical, cognitive, or chronic mental illness; and children with special needs.
