Prof. Lenette Azzi-Lessing Selected to the National Racial Equity Scholars in Residence Program for CWLA

The Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) has named Dr. Lenette Azzi-Lessing, a clinical professor at BU School of Social Work (BUSSW), to be a National Racial Equity Scholar in Residence. Professor Azzi-Lessing is a longtime advocate for the development of innovative strategies, resources, and initiatives that help dismantle barriers and promote equity within and around child welfare systems across the nation and internationally.
As a scholar in residence, Professor Azzi-Lessing will play a pivotal role in advancing issues in child welfare, identifying promising strategies, synthesizing concerns on the national landscape, and providing information, ideas, and scholarly input for CWLA’s programmatic, education and advocacy efforts. Her work will advance racial equity and justice-centered research that supports CWLA’s policy, practice, and education priorities, while broadly promoting racial equity and justice across child welfare-related research, policy, and practice.
The CWLA addresses systemic inequities that persist within child welfare, to foster a diverse and inclusive environment and better help children and families to flourish.
