Boston University School of Social Work (BUSSW) hosted a special book launch event to celebrate the publication of See Me!: Gay and Trans Latinos’ Testimonios on Mental Health, Discrimination, and Joy in South Texas, a collaboration between BUSSW faculty member Dr. Luis Alvarez-Hernandez and photographer Nys Sanchez.

Held at BU’s Howard Thurman Center on Feb. 11, the event featured a reading by Prof. Alvarez-Hernandez and a conversation between the author and photographer moderated by Dr. Carlos Rodriguez-Diaz, professor and chair at BU School of Public Health, followed by a Q&A, reception, and book signing. Check out the gallery below for photo highlights from this profound tribute to gay and trans Latino experiences in South Texas.
