Mass. Health & Human Services Secretary Marylou Sudders (SSW’78) Named BUSSW 2020 Commencement Speaker

Marylou Sudders (SSW’78) will be the featured speaker at this year’s BUSSW commencement ceremony for the Class of 2020. A successful and outspoken alumna of the school, Sudders serves as secretary of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health & Human Services (EOHHS), the largest executive agency in the state, where she oversees twelve agencies and MassHealth. In her work, Sudders addresses matters such as health care coverage, the opioid epidemic, child welfare systems, and policies around aging. Sudders was chosen as commencement speaker through a student vote.

BUSSW Commencement will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at the Walter Brown Arena at Boston University. Graduates include students from all MSW programs – at five campus sites and online – as well as doctoral social work students.
