5/22: Marylou Sudders (SSW’78) Speaks at Boston University 2022 Baccalaureate Service

Marylou Sudders (SSW’78) will deliver Boston University’s Baccalaureate Address at Marsh Chapel and receive an honorary Doctor of Laws honoris causa. Sudders serves as secretary of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health & Human Services (EOHHS), the largest executive agency in the state, where she oversees twelve agencies and MassHealth. Since 2015, Sudders has applied social work solutions to reform the state’s public healthcare system, child welfare, and community services that address everything from mental health to the opioid epidemic. When the pandemic hit Massachusetts in March 2020, Governor Charlie Baker appointed Sudders to head the COVID Response Command Center. There she increased the state’s testing capacity, introduced a nation-leading contact tracing program, and led a nationally acclaimed data reporting system.
