Kristen Lee (SSW’00) Publishes Self-Improvement Book on Risk Taking & Self-Confidence

Clinician, author, and comedian Kristen Lee (SSW’00) has published a new book encouraging readers to take risks in order to improve their confidence and capacity for social impact. Her book, entitled “Worth the Risk: How to Microdose Bravery to Grow Resilience, Connect More, and Offer Yourself to the World,” is her third book on accessible and surprising ways to improve mental health.
As part of her approach, Lee acknowledges that taking risks is easier said than done. Her book provides readers with tools to manage their risk-taking anxiety in constructive ways and encourages readers to recognize and work with their feelings instead of dismissing them. “We are hardwired for risk-taking,” she writes. “As we become more comfortable with the uncomfortable, our nervous system changes to support us in experiencing a bold, adventurous, colorful life.” By understanding our emotions, we can navigate complex situations, build resilience to trauma, and expand our opportunities to grow and give.
Lee has worked for over 20 years as a clinician, researcher, and professor of behavioral science at Northeastern University. “Worth the Risk” is available in hardcover and eBook formats.
