CISWH News: Dr. Tami Gouveia Named Director of the Center for Innovation in Social Work & Health

Dr. Tami Gouveia

Dr. Tami Gouveia, a veteran public health social worker and former Massachusetts state representative, will join the Center for Innovation in Social Work & Health (CISWH) at BU School of Social Work (BUSSW) as its new director beginning July 1, 2023. With over two decades of policymaking and operational leadership, Dr. Gouveia will help BUSSW expand the impact of social work and social workers in healthcare delivery, public health, and global health.

As director of CISWH, Dr. Gouveia will report to the incoming Dean of BUSSW, Dr. Barbara Jones. Together they will lead BUSSW’s efforts at the national level to expand the impact of social work and social workers in healthcare delivery, public health, and global health – work targeted at improving outcomes, improving patient experiences, promoting population health, and stimulating health equity nationally and globally.”
