BUSSW's reception at the 2023 CSWE APM (Atlanta Marriott Marquis, October 28)

Boston University School of Social Work (BUSSW) had an impressive presence at the Council for Social Work Education’s 2023 Annual Program Meeting (CSWE APM).

Faculty, staff, students and alumni shared their expertise on topics ranging from anti-racist group work to early childhood mental health. Saturday night’s reception drew hundreds of attendees from peer schools, social work education partners, and BUSSW community members, providing an opportunity for new and rekindled connections, and a warm welcome to the School’s new leadership and tenure-track faculty: Barbara L. Jones, BUSSW dean; Tami Gouveia, director of the Center for Innovation in Social Work & Health; and assistant professors Luis R. Alvarez Hernandez, Peter Treitler, and Darien Alexander Williams.

The School also co-sponsored the Hokenstad International Lecture, a series launched in 2007 from an endowment by former CSWE president M. C. “Terry” Hokenstad that highlights innovative international thought leadership.

The conference, held in Atlanta, Ga., from Oct. 26-29, is the largest gathering of social work education scholars and professionals in the country.
